Does your experience of this
trip to Sudan have an influence on your music and lyrics?
- Julie, Wraysbury
- Ian, Kirkcaldy
"I don't think I am going to sit down and sing 'I went to
Sudan
the other day', that's not how I write. Life is like a tea
bag,
you yourself are like a teabag and all the experiences you
have
your whole life are thousands of tea leaves in this teabag,
and
if you make art you pour in the hot water and you get a
cup of
tea - and the tea is the play, the book, the song or whatever.
It's not one tealeaf; it's all of the tealeaves - all of
the
experiences blended together… Sudan in this experience is
just a tealeaf. That's not to say it's insignificant, but
it's just
part of your life and I don't think I am going to be sitting
making Arabic songs. It might come through but it won't
be obvious."
