How did the trip affect you
personally and what lessons did you feel can be learned?

"Before you go out, you see all the things on the TV and
you
have a preconceived idea of what you are about to see.
When you actually go, you realise that these people are
normal human beings. Actually, when I came back I worried
more about us than about them. They are the strongest people
you are likely to meet. They are rich in the things that
money
cannot buy. Here we are, trying to get the car and the house,
in the rat race and we have wandered a little bit. Our communities
are a bit more fragmented than they used to be in our grandparents'
time, like leaving our doors unlocked at night. Our society
has fallen apart a little bit."
"There has to be a cultural or spiritual exchange between
the two continents. Live8 and bringing people together in
these initiatives is encouraging that. There is more of
an impact when the people come together."
